Life before and after cloud computing

Before the days of cloud computing, life was a lot less convenient and a lot more pricey. Simple tasks such as storing and saving files, or just finding the name of a song you like took a whole lot of effort. In this post I will show you real life examples of how cloud computing has changed life for the world and businesses we see today.

Saving important files and transporting them to places was a big inconvenience to workers who were always on the move. If you wanted to save a file, you would have to save it on something like a hard-drive or computer. After that, in order to move that saved file you would then have to transfer the file from the computer to a flash-drive. What happens when the flash drive that had all the information on it gets misplaced? Then you would have to drive to the mall, buy a new flash drive, and then store all the data on the new flash drive. Fast forward a couple of years to an era where cloud computing exists, that same file can now be saved on the internet via Google Docs. Using Google Docs saves you the burden of having to worry about accounting for the flash drive at all times, and saves you from even having to buy a flash drive to begin with.

Ever notice how you are paying less and less every year on software installations for your personal computer? This is because lots of helpful applications are run through the cloud. For instance, instead of buying an expensive movie-making software, you can just use the YouTube video editor online and save your video online. Ever hear a really good song but didn't know what it was called? Now we just use the Shazam app. But remember when you had to search up the lyrics you remembered to the song online and go through all those pages to find it? With Shazam all you have to do is press a button on your phone while the song is playing and the application gives you every detail about the song, album, and artist. The application does this by taking a sample of the song using the microphone in your phone, and then compares the audio to songs stored online in a cloud data base. Once the application finds the song, it saves all of it's detail into a tab in the application in case you ever want to go back to check the song out again.
